Paris Pictures II: Louvre

Here I am at the Louvre!! The first two pictures are by Da Vinci, The first is a neat picture of baby Jesus, holding a lamb, and Mary holding Jesus and one of the saints holding here (cant remember which one) but here it shows Da Vinci's obsession with pyramids. The second one is the Mona Lisa, and yes, it is that small... i mean i am standing about 10 feet away from it, and its in a glass case... but it was pretty tiny, still beautiful though!

The third picture is of Venus De Milo, one of the oldest surviving sculptures from ancient Greece! She's so beautiful, but that pose she's hitting is really hard to immitate!

The fourth picture is of the Ancient Egyptian collection that was surprissingly huge! There is so much Egyptian artifacts it would make a mummy's head spin! There I am next to a real sphinx!

The next picture is of one of the sculpture rooms-very pretty, the NEXT picture is of Napoleon III's apartment! He was the last guy to live here and boy did he know how to live in style! His apartment was so lavish in drapings and velvet that it put Versailles to shame! seriously! (I went there just before going to the Louvre!)

The last picture is of the inverted pyramid in the Louvre that is in Da Vinci Code (by Dan Brown) at the end of the book/movie its kinda significant...

haha anyway that's a very short sum-up of my trip the Louvre. It was so big! When we got there I was really upset because our group was moving so fast and completely passing up Da Vinci and Venus De Milo, but really this place was so big that the small amount of time that we spent at each of these was actually a lot for as much as we saw! It felt like running a marathon just walking through that place! My head was spinning from the amount of history and the speed at which we went from like 1000 b.c. to 1800 a.d. with art spanning all over the world from ancient messipitamia to egypt to india, to Israel, to france and all of Europe, then throw in there an Emperor's Appartment!
It was truely something!!
